Safety Information
Your Safety Matters
Cape Town is a vibrant destination. Here's what you need to know to enjoy a safe and memorable stay.
General Safety
Cape Town is generally safe for tourists who take standard precautions. Avoid displaying expensive jewelry, watches, or electronics in public. Use ride-hailing apps like Uber and Bolt rather than walking alone after dark. Stick to well-known neighborhoods and tourist-friendly areas such as the V&A Waterfront, Camps Bay, Green Point, and the City Centre during daylight hours. Always be aware of your surroundings, keep car doors locked while driving, and avoid leaving valuables visible in parked vehicles. Most visitors enjoy Cape Town without any issues by following these common-sense guidelines.
Our Property Safety Features
Every PrimePlaces property is equipped with modern safety features for your peace of mind. All apartments include secure parking, 24/7 building security, and controlled access via keyless entry systems. In-room safes are provided in every unit for storing valuables, passports, and electronics. Our properties are located in well-established, secure residential buildings in Cape Town's safest neighborhoods.
Beach Safety
Cape Town's beaches are stunning but require awareness. Always swim at designated beaches with active lifeguards and between the flags. Be mindful of strong currents, especially along the Atlantic Seaboard. Note that Atlantic-side beaches (Camps Bay, Clifton) have cold water (12-16°C), while False Bay beaches (Muizenberg, Fish Hoek) are warmer (18-22°C). Check conditions before entering the water and never swim alone.
Transport
We recommend using Uber or Bolt for getting around Cape Town — both are widely available, affordable, and reliable. Renting a car is ideal for exploring the Cape Peninsula, Winelands, and coastal drives. Avoid walking alone at night in unfamiliar areas. The MyCiTi bus service is safe and convenient during daytime hours, covering routes between the airport, city centre, and key suburbs.
